Openings and closures
In June 2026, 459,578 companies opened in Brazil and 251,429 companies closed, a net of +208,149. Of those openings, 348,947 opened as MEI (75.9%).
Compared
Openings fell 2.6% on May 2026 and were 18.8% above June 2025. In 12 months there were 5,454,917 openings, 15.3% above the 12 months before.
How we count
Each company is counted once, by its head office, from the Receita Federal's CNPJ Open Data. A closure may be recorded with a past date: the latest months may still gain closures in later publications.
