Openings and closures
In July 2026, 496,201 companies opened in Brazil and 259,388 companies closed, a net of +236,813. Of those openings, 378,555 opened as MEI (76.3%).
Compared
Openings rose 8.0% on June 2026 and were 12.0% above July 2025. In 12 months there were 5,508,073 openings, 15.0% above the 12 months before.
How we count
Each company is counted once, by its head office, from the Receita Federal's CNPJ Open Data. A closure may be recorded with a past date: the latest months may still gain closures in later publications.
