Openings and closures
In October 2025, 440,503 companies opened in Brazil and 232,728 companies closed, a net of +207,775. Of those openings, 333,167 opened as MEI (75.6%).
Compared
Openings rose 0.6% on September 2025 and were 15.0% above October 2024. In 12 months there were 4,973,725 openings, 19.0% above the 12 months before.
How we count
Each company is counted once, by its head office, from the Receita Federal's CNPJ Open Data. A closure may be recorded with a past date: the latest months may still gain closures in later publications.
